Cathy Wilson

Morris Township Committee

Cathy Wilson, mayor of Morris Township and a founding member of the Morris County Democratic Women’s Caucus (MCDWC), is a team builder.  During her two-year term as chair of the Morris Township Democratic Committee, she grew the organization by leaps and bounds.  She is known as a tenacious canvasser, having hit hundreds of homes in Morris Township every campaign season.

Cathy looked around at the local political landscape in 2016 and recognized the need for better representation of women.  When she heard that a new women’s caucus was forming in Morris County, Cathy was one of the first to join. Cathy has a long history of civic engagement and realized that the change she was looking for politically could begin with her, and that the MCDWC could help her on her journey.  Morris Township had a significant Republican lead in registered voters until 2018 and any Democrat running for office before that time faced an uphill battle.  But Cathy was the right candidate at the right time.  Cathy’s education and career experience set her up well for public office.  Cathy has degrees in Education, Leadership, and Negotiation and Conflict Resolution and taught Social Studies for 12 years.  She is a 2014 graduate of the Emerge program that recruits, trains and provides a powerful network to Democratic women running for office.  Voters in Morris Township recognized Cathy as focused on meeting their needs and communicating local issues in a transparent way.  The voters responded by electing Cathy to a seat on the Township Committee in 2017.  In 2020, her committee colleagues agreed that she would make a great Mayor.
