Lauren Barnett
Mountain Lakes Town Council
Lauren is a Mountain Lakes Borough Councilwoman, serving two years as Mayor and one year as Deputy Mayor. Lauren is proud of her track record of strong fiscal oversight; completing important infrastructure projects; strengthening Borough communications and responsiveness; and supporting responsible development that improves our economic well-being. Lauren has served on many Borough committees, including the Planning Board, Finance Advisory Committee, Affordable Housing Committee, Personnel Subcommittee, Public Works Subcommittee and Shared Services Subcommittee.
Lauren graduated from Princeton University with a BA in Public Policy and International Relations and earned her MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management with majors in Finance, Strategy and Marketing. She is an experienced business strategy consultant, working for many years at IBM Global Services and Booz Allen & Hamilton, where her clients included a broad range of Fortune 500 companies, mid-sized businesses and government agencies.
Lauren has been an active community member since moving to Mountain Lakes twelve years ago with her husband Dan and three children. She served on the board of the Home & School Association for four years, as Treasurer and Vice President of Fundraising. Lauren also served on the board of the Mountain Lakes Sailing Program, and coached travel soccer and Destination Imagination.
Lauren loves Mountain Lakes for its strong sense of community, its beautiful lakes and woods, its historic architecture, and its excellent schools. She is focused on preserving and protecting those things that make Mountain Lakes such a great place to live. Lauren appreciates the opportunity to give back to the community she loves!
